(Translation: Republic of Cuba 1 Peso 26.7295g. 900M Fatherland and Freedom)
Reverse description Left-facing portrait bust of José Martí, Cuban national hero and poet (1853–1895), rendered in high relief with fine engraved detail. A five-pointed star radiates prominently near his face in the field. The commemorative legend CENTENARIO DE MARTI arcs across the upper portion of the coin in a curved inscription, flanked by the centennial dates 1853 and 1953 positioned on either side of the portrait. The design commemorates the centenary of Martí's birth and reflects a dignified, academic portrait style characteristic of mid-twentieth-century Latin American commemorative coinage.
