Obverse description Stylized effigy of General Justo José de Urquiza facing slightly left, rendered in a bold, graphic style within the bimetallic aluminium-bronze centre. The circumferential legend REPUBLICA ARGENTINA arcs across the upper portion of the copper-nickel ring, while the dates 1801 and 2001 flank the portrait at left and right respectively, commemorating the bicentenary of his birth. The inscription GRAL JUSTO JOSE DE URQUIZA curves along the lower arc of the ring. The portrait occupies the majority of the inner disc field with no additional ornamentation.
