At upper left, a vignette of a classical female allegorical figure wearing a floral crown is set within an oval frame, while the lower left panel contains a second vignette of a deer standing in a mountainous landscape. The central area carries the bank title EL BANCO DE CUYO at top, the series and serial number designation, and the denomination UN PESO FUERTE in bold letterpress text, with the place of issue San Juan and spaces for date and signatures of the Gerente and Presidente below.

备注	The Banco de Cuyo was one of several provincial Argentine banks granted note-issuing rights during the relatively brief experiment with decentralized banking in the mid-nineteenth century. These institutions operated under provincial authority before the long process of monetary consolidation eventually stripped them of that privilege. PS1640 is among the scarcer entries in the Argentine provincial private bank series. Documentation on the Banco de Cuyo is thin even in specialist literature, which itself tells you something about the bank's operating lifespan.
