Banco Comercial de Corrientes was one of several provincial banks that briefly operated in Argentina's interior during the 1860s, issuing their own paper currency at a time when Buenos Aires had not yet consolidated monetary control over the provinces. The bank's notes circulated locally and were treated with varying degrees of trust depending on the institution's perceived solvency — provincial bank failures in this period were common enough that the public had good reason for skepticism.

This issue predates the national banking reforms that would eventually suppress provincial emission rights. PS#1575 is among the scarcer catalogued entries from the Corrientes series.
