| 裏面の説明 | A flaming broken sword, symbolising the fall of Bataan, is depicted centrally in high relief, its blade snapped and engulfed by upward-sweeping flames. The central device is flanked on either side by a laurel wreath whose branches meet at the base, framing the commemorative motif. The dates 1942-1967, separated by a dash and flanked by two five-pointed stars, appear in the lower exergual area. The encircling legend 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FALL OF BATAAN arcs around the upper periphery, and a border of raised beads runs just within the reeded edge. |

The Fall of Bataan commemorative series was authorized to mark the 25th anniversary of the April 1942 surrender — the largest capitulation of American-led forces in history, followed by the Bataan Death March in which thousands of Filipino and American prisoners died en route to Camp O'Donnell. This copper piece is a pattern striking, never approved for circulation. The adopted issue was struck in silver.
