Additional information

Cuba's Expo 2000 coinage was issued ahead of the Hanover world's fair, to which Cuba sent a pavilion despite operating under sustained U.S. trade embargo — a deliberate display of international engagement. The series appeared in 1998, two years before the event itself, which was unusually early even for commemorative lead-time.
