Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield divided into three sections featuring a golden key between two landmasses, a royal palm tree, and horizontal stripes representing the sea, surmounted by a Phrygian cap above a fasces. The shield is flanked by an oak branch to the left and a laurel branch to the right, crossed and tied at the base. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1 PESO is inscribed along the lower periphery, with a five-pointed star serving as a separator on each side.
