| Obverse description | Black intaglio print on white paper with intricate guilloche border. Two oval portrait vignettes frame the centre: a bearded gentleman to the left and a mustachioed gentleman to the right, each set within fine lathe-work surrounds. The centre carries an elaborate ornamental guilloche medallion bearing the numeral '1' and the legend 'UNO', surmounted by the bold arched title 'EL ESTADO DE SONORA' and the promise text 'PAGARÁ AL PORTADOR EN EFECTIVO'; red serial numbers appear at upper left and right, with 'SÉRIE C' printed in red on both sides of the central vignette.
