El Banco de Queretaro was one of the smaller state-chartered banks operating under the 1897 Ley General de Instituciones de Crédito, which permitted individual Mexican states to establish note-issuing banks under federal supervision. By 1914, that entire system was collapsing. The Revolutionary forces of Carranza, Villa, and Zapata were each printing their own currencies, the federal Huerta government was hemorrhaging legitimacy, and the old Porfirian banking network — of which Queretaro was a minor node — was being systematically dismantled.
Notes from this bank dated 1914 almost certainly saw negligible circulation before being rendered worthless by the monetary chaos that followed. The Carranza administration formally liquidated the concession banks between 1915 and 1916.
