Opmerkingen

El Banco Americano de Guatemala was one of several private banks authorized to issue currency under Guatemala's 1874 banking law, which allowed competing commercial institutions to circulate their own notes simultaneously. The American Bank Note Company's involvement here is unsurprising — ABNC held printing contracts across Central America throughout this period, and their New York plates were often shared or adapted between regional clients.

The date range is wide enough to span Guatemala's transition away from private bank currency entirely. A 1926 decree nationalized note-issuing rights under the Banco Central, effectively ending the Banco Americano's circulation privileges and rendering remaining stock obsolete.
