Additional information

Cuencamo's 1914 peso issues were produced under the authority of the revolutionary Durango state government during the most chaotic phase of the Mexican Revolution, when the collapse of the federal monetary system forced dozens of regional and municipal authorities to strike their own emergency coinage. The Constitutionalist forces controlling much of the north needed payroll metal, and local issues filled the gap left by Huerta's discredited federal currency.

Cuencamo issues are among the rougher provincial strikes of the Durango series — planchet preparation was inconsistent, and edge irregularities are the norm rather than the exception.
