| 背面描述 | A detailed portrait of a Cuban crocodile (Crocodylus rhombifer) head is depicted in the central field, rendered in strong relief and facing left, showcasing the characteristic scale patterns and pronounced jaw of the species. The curved legend DEFENSA DE LA NATURALEZA arcs along the upper periphery, referencing the commemorative theme of nature conservation. The species designation COCODRILO is inscribed along the lower border, with the issue date 1985 incorporated within the reverse field below the central motif. |

Cuba's 1985 fauna series was issued primarily for the international collector market rather than domestic circulation, a common hard-currency strategy among socialist states during the 1980s. The Cuban crocodile (Crocodylus rhombifer) is endemic to the Zapata Swamp and the Isle of Youth, and by 1985 was already the subject of a state-run captive breeding program established in part to prevent extinction driven by decades of hide hunting.
