Reverse description The reverse presents a front-facing portrait bust of Christopher Columbus set within an inner beaded circle, rendered in moderate relief. Columbus is depicted wearing a period cap adorned with a laurel wreath at its crown, with his hair falling in waves to his shoulders and a lace-trimmed collar visible at the throat. Flanking the portrait within the inner circle are stylised laurel branches. Along the lower portion of the bust, a scroll-like cartouche bears the date 1990. The surrounding legend reads V CENTENARIO at the top and CRISTOBAL COLON at the bottom, with the commemorative date 1492 at the lower right, all separated by five-pointed stars, referencing the quincentenary of Columbus's first voyage to the Americas.
