Obverse description Central device depicting the Mexican national arms: an eagle displayed upon a cactus, with a serpent in its beak, flanked by laurel and oak branches tied at the base. The design is rendered in a relatively crude, emergency-issue style consistent with Revolutionary-period coinage from Guerrero. A beaded border runs along the rim. The peripheral legend reads REPUBLICA MEXICANA, with the denomination UN PESO and date 1914 incorporated into the inscription.
