Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse is dominated by a fine guilloche underprint in blue and grey tones. At centre, the denomination numeral '1' is printed over the legend 'UN PESO', flanked on the left by a circular vignette of the Cuban national coat of arms — a shield bearing a key, a star, and stripes, encircled by the inscription 'BANCO NACIONAL DE CUBA' — and on the right by a large narrow serif letter 'C' within a decorative border. The serial number prefix and six-digit numeral appear at upper left and lower right, with the title 'CERTIFICADO DE COMPRA' at top and 'BANCO NACIONAL DE CUBA' at the foot of the note.

Opmerkingen

Cuba's Foreign Exchange Certificate system ran parallel to the regular peso throughout the 1980s, functioning as a convertible scrip issued to tourists and foreign nationals who were legally prohibited from using hard currency directly. The "C" series was restricted to non-socialist visitors — a distinct tier from the "B" certificates issued in the dollar-equivalent circuit used by socialist-bloc travelers, reflecting the Cuban government's careful stratification of who could access what.

The narrow "C" overprint variety is a recognized sub-type of P#FX19, catalogued separately due to the measurably thinner typeface used in the overprint stamp. Whether this reflects a plate change or a different overprinting run has not been conclusively documented.
