1 Peso Boliviano

The Peso Boliviano was introduced in 1963 as part of a stabilization effort following the catastrophic inflation that had followed the 1952 National Revolution and the subsequent nationalization of the tin mines. By the time this series entered production in 1968, the currency had held reasonably steady for over a decade — an achievement that would not last. Inflation accelerated sharply through the 1970s and into the 1980s, ultimately forcing Bolivia to replace the Peso Boliviano entirely with the Boliviano in 1987 at a rate of one million to one.
