| 正面铭文 | REPUBLICA DE CUBA ★ 1 PESO ★ (Translation: Republic of Cuba 1 Peso) |
| 背面描述 | The central field depicts a dynamic baseball game scene set against a large background baseball motif. To the right, the event name XI JUEGOS PANAMERICANOS is inscribed in a curved legend rotated 90 degrees, while to the left, HABANA/91 appears similarly rotated as a curved legend identifying the host city and year. The issue date 1990 and mintmark appear at the lower left below the main image. The overall composition commemorates the XIth Pan American Games held in Havana in 1991. |

Cuba's sports commemorative program of the 1980s and early 1990s was driven partly by ideology — athletic achievement, particularly in Olympic disciplines, was treated as a measurable proof of the revolution's success. Baseball occupied a special position in that framework: the national team had dominated amateur international competition for years, and the Cuban government had formally prohibited professional play since 1961, framing the amateur structure as a point of superiority over the American model.
The Empresa Cubana de Acuñaciones produced these largely for the export collector market, not domestic circulation.
