Beschrijving voorzijde The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring a shield divided into three sections: the upper portion bears a golden key between two rocky promontories symbolizing Cuba's strategic position, the lower left displays a sun rising over a landscape, and the lower right depicts a royal palm tree. The shield is surmounted by a Phrygian cap atop a fasces, and flanked on either side by a wreath of oak and laurel branches tied at the base. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1 PESO is inscribed along the lower rim, with a five-pointed star positioned at each lateral extremity.

Beschrijving keerzijde A facing slightly right bust portrait of Antonio Maceo, the celebrated Cuban general and independence hero, is rendered in high relief at the center of the field. He is depicted in military uniform adorned with stars and epaulettes, with a prominent mustache and beard. The name ANTONIO MACEO arcs along the upper periphery in large raised letters, flanked by a five-pointed star on each side. The date 1977 appears to the left of the portrait within the field, and the commemorative inscription PROTESTA DE BARAGUA curves along the lower periphery, recalling his historic refusal to accept the Pact of Zanjón in 1878. A beaded inner border frames the entire design.
