Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield divided into three sections: the upper portion bears a golden key between two rocks symbolizing Cuba's position between the Americas, the lower-left section displays alternating blue and white stripes representing the original departments, and the lower-right section features a royal palm tree. A Phrygian cap atop a pike surmounts the crest, while a wreath of oak branches to the left and laurel to the right flanks the shield, bound at the base. The circumscribed legend reads REPUBLICA DE CUBA along the upper arc, with two five-pointed stars at either side of the lower field, and the denomination 1 PESO inscribed along the lower rim.
