Obverse description The obverse features the national coat of arms of Cuba centered in the field, depicting a shield divided into three quarters: the upper segment shows a golden key between two rocky promontories with a rising sun, the lower left bears blue and white diagonal stripes representing the sea, and the lower right displays a royal palm tree. The shield is surmounted by a Phrygian cap atop a fasces and flanked by a wreath composed of an oak branch to the left and an olive branch to the right, tied at the base. The denomination legend 'UN PESO' appears to the left of the shield in bold relief, while the issuer legend 'REPUBLICA DE CUBA' is inscribed in two lines along the lower field. In the upper left, the fineness and weight specifications '900 M' and '26.7295 G' are struck in small characters.

Reverse description The reverse presents a heroic bust of José Martí, Cuban national hero and poet, facing left in high relief, rendered in a classical style with strong facial features and a short-cropped beard. The portrait occupies the central field with the subject's neck and upper chest visible, conveying a dignified and resolute expression befitting a founding father of the Republic. The patriotic motto 'PATRIA Y LIBERTAD' is inscribed in an arc along the upper periphery, while the date of issue appears in the lower field below the bust. The design reflects the artistic sensibility of engraver Jaime Valls Diaz, combining neoclassical portraiture with republican symbolism.
