Pick 249A belongs to the "Pesos Moneda Nacional" series issued in the early 1950s under Perón's government, a period when the Banco Central was operating under direct Treasury influence rather than as an independent institution — a structural change formalized by the 1946 nationalization of the bank itself. The note was printed by Casa de Moneda de la República Argentina, the state printing works in Buenos Aires, which had been printing domestic currency continuously since the nineteenth century.
