| Obverse description | The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched upon a prickly pear cactus and devouring a rattlesnake, the cactus itself issuing from a rock rising from water. Flanking the base of the cactus are sprigs of holm oak (encino) to the left and laurel to the right, tied with a ribbon. The arc legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS runs along the upper periphery, while the denomination UN PESO and the date appear in the lower field. The entire design is contained within a beaded border. |
