| Opmerkingen |
One of several emergency guerrilla currency issues produced in the Philippine provinces during the Japanese occupation. Palawan's wartime government, operating under significant duress, issued these notes to maintain some functional local economy outside Japanese-controlled military scrip. The province's relative geographic isolation — long, narrow, and difficult to patrol — gave local Philippine Commonwealth officials enough operational space to sustain a parallel civil administration longer than most.
Emergency issues from Palawan are among the scarcer provincial guerrilla notes; the small population meant lower print runs, and wartime conditions destroyed much of what circulated.
