备注

The United States Army Forces in the Far East guerrilla currency issued across Samar in 1943 represents some of the most locally improvised emergency money produced during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines. The Headquarters Volunteer Service Corps notes from Balangiga are among the more obscure of these issues — Balangiga itself carried enormous symbolic weight for both Filipino and American forces, having been the site of the 1901 massacre that triggered one of the most brutal American pacification campaigns of the Philippine-American War.

Printed on whatever paper was available under occupation conditions, these notes deteriorate readily and survivors in any condition are genuinely uncommon in the specialist market.
