| Opmerkingen |
Provincia de Jujuy's 1932 peso issue is one of the more obscure Argentine provincial emissions of the interwar period. By the early 1930s, provincial paper money had been legally dead in Argentina for decades — the 1890 banking crisis and subsequent federal reforms had effectively ended regional issuance. That Jujuy put out a note at all in 1932 suggests a local fiscal emergency, most likely tied to the severe contraction following the 1929 crash and the disruption of the sugar and mining revenues on which the province depended.
Documentation on the printer and precise circumstances of issue remains thin. The PS prefix in the Pick catalog places it among speculative and privately-issued material — treat any provenance claims accordingly.
