Descrizione del dritto	The obverse presents an oval vignette to the left enclosing a three-quarter portrait of a young woman in period dress with flowers in her hair, framed within a fine guilloche border, while a central pastoral vignette to the right illustrates agricultural laborers set in a tropical landscape. The heading 'EL BANCO DE OCCIDENTE' arches across the top, with 'REPUBLICA DE GUATEMALA' and 'QUEZALTENANGO' inscribed to the right, and the promise-to-pay clause 'Pagará á la vista al portador en moneda efectiva' runs across the central field. The denomination 'UN PESO' appears at the base, the whole executed in a style characteristic of late nineteenth-century intaglio commercial banknote printing.

Descrizione del rovescio	The reverse is executed in dark brown ink with an elaborate symmetrical guilloche framework, flanking a central oval cartouche enclosing the Guatemalan national coat of arms — the quetzal bird perched above a scroll inscribed 'LIBERTAD 15 DE SEPTIEMBRE DE 1821'. Rectangular denomination panels reading 'UN PESO' appear at left and right, with 'BANCO DE OCCIDENTE' arching above and 'QUEZALTENANGO' below the central arms, all enclosed within intricate scrollwork borders. The printer's imprint 'Waterlow & Sons Limited, London Wall, London E.C.' is lettered at the lower margin.
