Opmerkingen

Banco Republicano was one of several private Colombian banks authorized to issue currency under the banking legislation of the 1880s. By 1899, that liberal banking experiment was already collapsing — the Thousand Days War broke out that same year, and the inflationary chaos that followed effectively ended private bank note issuance in Colombia for good. Most Banco Republicano notes were either spent into destruction or rendered worthless before any systematic preservation occurred.

Survivors at any grade are genuinely uncommon. The S-prefix in the Pick reference reflects its status as a private bank emission rather than a government or central bank issue.
