| 背面描述 | Printed in reddish-brown on plain paper, the reverse displays a central vignette of a multi-storey tower or public building set within an elaborate guilloche surround, with large decorative '1' numerals in ornamental cartouches at left and right. | 备注 |
San Juan Province issued its own paper money in the early 1890s under emergency authorization from the Argentine national government, which had itself been shaken by the monetary crisis of 1890 — the Baring Crisis — that triggered the collapse of the Banco Nacional and Banco de la Provincia de Buenos Aires. Provincial treasuries stepped in to fill the vacuum, though the legal standing of these issues varied considerably and was contested in several cases.
The Compañía Sud Americana de Billetes de Banco, the Buenos Aires-based subsidiary of the American Bank Note Company, handled the printing. A rare instance of a local provincial instrument produced domestically rather than sent to New York or London.
