Opmerkingen

The Banco Provincial de Córdoba was one of several Argentine provincial banks empowered to issue currency under the 1887 Ley de Bancos Garantidos, which allowed provinces to circulate notes backed by national bonds. The arrangement collapsed spectacularly in 1890 when the Baring Crisis triggered a run on nearly every provincial issuer simultaneously — Córdoba's bank among them. Notes from this series had an extremely short effective lifespan before the federal government moved to absorb or liquidate the provincial banks and centralize emission.

The ABNC contract for Argentine provincial issues in this period was substantial, covering multiple issuers from a single New York production run.
