| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in black and green on light paper. At left, an oval intaglio portrait vignette of a uniformed military figure, engraved in fine detail and set within an ornate frame with the legend 'UN PESO' beneath. At right, a classical allegorical vignette of putti with grapes and fruit in a baroque composition. The centre carries the issuing authority inscription 'EL BANCO DE LA PROVINCIA DE SANTIAGO DEL ESTERO' above the payable clause 'pagará á la vista y al portador UN PESO', with 'REPUBLICA ARGENTINA' across the top, serial number and series designations in the upper margin, and the Argentine national arms at centre top. |
