| Reverse description | The reverse features a seated allegorical figure of Liberty or the Republic, rendered in classical drapery, positioned centrally and facing slightly left. She holds a staff surmounted by a liberty cap and a banner inscribed UNION in her left hand, while her right hand rests upon an open book or tablet placed on a columnar pedestal. Two crowned monogram devices flanking the central figure at the mid-field level represent assayer or mint marks. The arc legend 15 DE SETIEMBRE DE 1821 curves across the upper field, commemorating the date of Central American independence, while CENTRO AMERICA appears in the lower legend. The engraver's signature FRENER F. is present in the exergue, and the inscription 27 DE AGOSTO DE 1876 and the motto UNION CONSTITUCION PAZ PROGRESO I LIBERTAD complete the reverse legends. |
