Obverse description	Black and brown intaglio print on a brown underprint, with the Nicaraguan coat of arms as a vignette at upper left and an allegorical bust of Liberty as the central vignette at lower center. The face carries the full decree text and treasury obligation in letterpress across the note under Serie I. Issued pursuant to the Decreto de 24 de Setiembre de 1881, the note bears the treasury's commitment to redeem the note at sight in gold or silver legal tender coinage.

Reverse description	Printed entirely in green, the reverse is dominated by an elaborate guilloche composition centered on a large ornate numeral "1" within an interlaced geometric medallion. Two symmetrical circular guilloche rosettes flank the central device at left and right, all enclosed within a continuous lathe-work border. The country name is rendered in bold serif lettering, arching across the design with "REPÚBLICA" above and "NICARAGUA" below the central medallion.
