Opmerkingen

The Banco Provincial de Córdoba was one of several Argentine provincial banks empowered to issue their own currency under the banking arrangements that preceded the 1890 financial crisis — the same crisis that eventually wiped out most provincial note-issuing authority and paved the way for a centralized monetary system. This note predates that collapse by nearly a decade.

American Bank Note Company's work for Argentine provincial clients during the 1870s and 1880s was extensive. The Córdoba contract was part of a broader period in which ABNC effectively dominated South American bank note printing, competing with and occasionally displacing European firms that had previously held those relationships.
