Additional information

Honduras adopted the peso system following Central American monetary reforms of the 1870s, and these silver pesos were struck at the Tegucigalpa mint during a period when the national government was struggling to establish credible coinage after decades of monetary instability. Production ran only from 1881 to 1883 before the type was discontinued — a short window that kept total mintages modest. The Tegucigalpa facility was never a high-output operation, and quality control across the run was inconsistent enough that well-preserved survivors are genuinely scarce.
