Obverse description Green and black note with an intaglio portrait of a man in a bow tie at centre, framed by ornate guilloche medallions bearing the numeral "1" at left and right. The bank title "EL BANCO DE PANAMÁ" arches across the top in bold letterpress, with the denomination "UN PESO" repeated in large script at lower left and lower right above a cursive promise-to-pay legend. The imprint of the Compañía Americana de Billetes de Banco, Nueva York appears at the bottom margin.

Reverse description Entirely engraved in green, the reverse is dominated by three large circular guilloche rosettes arranged horizontally — the central rosette carries the inscribed panel "EL BANCO DE PANAMÁ" in two lines, while the flanking rosettes each contain a stylised cursive numeral "1". An intricate geometric lathe-work border frames the entire field, and the printer's imprint "Compañía Americana de Billetes de Banco, Nueva York" appears in small type along the bottom edge.
