| Beschrijving voorzijde | Letterpress-printed note on aged paper with an ornate border of repeated decorative units framing the entire design. The upper portion bears the bank title in bold script and the denomination UN PESO, flanked at right by a small vignette of a standing female allegorical figure. A central coat of arms vignette appears within the text, above a promise-to-pay legend in elaborate calligraphic script. The lower portion carries the authorization line POR EL PRESIDENTE Y DIRECTORES followed by a manuscript signature and a partially handwritten date. |

The Banco Nacional de las Provincias Unidas del Río de La Plata was a short-lived institution — founded in 1826 under Bernardino Rivadavia's centralizing reforms and liquidated by 1836 after sustained political pressure from provincial factions who viewed it as a tool of Buenos Aires hegemony. This note dates from the bank's final operational years, when its convertibility guarantees had already collapsed following the 1826–1828 war with Brazil and the fiscal strain of servicing Baring Brothers' 1824 loan.
Printed locally in Buenos Aires rather than abroad, the production quality reflects the limited engraving infrastructure available in the Río de la Plata at the time.
