| Reverse description | The reverse features a left-facing bust portrait of Benito Juárez, the reformist president under whose auspices the Constitution of 1857 was enacted, rendered in bold relief and occupying the central field. The commemorative legend CENTENARIO DE LA CONSTITUCION DE MEXICO arcs along the upper periphery, while the centennial dates 1857 and 1957, separated by dots, appear in the lower legend. The Mexico City Mint mark Mo is visible to the right of the portrait in the field. A ring of fine dentils frames the design along the milled border. |

| Additional information |
Mexico's 1857 constitution was itself a radical document — separating church and state, abolishing fueros (special legal privileges for clergy and military), and triggering the devastating three-year Reform War almost immediately after passage. Commemorating its centennial in 1957 was a pointed political act under a PRI government keen to claim liberal reformist heritage. The issue circulated widely and survives easily in lower grades.
