Yeste is a small inland municipality in the province of Albacete, and this note is a product of the Spanish Civil War's chaotic monetary fragmentation. When the Republic's central supply of small change collapsed after 1936, hundreds of local authorities — town councils, trade unions, cooperatives — began issuing their own emergency fractional currency. The Consejo Municipal de Yeste was one of them, turning to the nearest available commercial printer, Collado in Albacete, rather than any official institution.
The validation stamp is what legally activated these notes at the point of issue; without it, the printed sheet had no authority.
