Villar de los Navarros is a small municipality in the Daroca comarca of Zaragoza province, and in 1937 it was operating under anarcho-collectivist control — one of hundreds of villages in Aragón where the CNT-FAI reorganized local economies after the July 1936 uprising. The "Colectividad Libre" designation is precise: this was not a municipal government issuing scrip but a collectivized community replacing the wage system entirely, with local vouchers substituting for pesetas within the collective's internal economy.

The sole security feature — an official stamp — was the norm for these emergency emissions, which were produced under wartime conditions with whatever printing resources were locally available. Franco's 1937 dissolution decree, issued through the Council of Aragón, effectively ended most of these collectives and rendered their scrip worthless almost immediately.
