Vilanova de Prades is a village in the Conca de Barberà comarca of Tarragona with a population that barely reached a few hundred even before the Civil War. That it issued its own emergency currency at all is the point — the Republican government's 1937 authorization of municipal *moneda local* flooded Catalonia with thousands of hyper-local issues, many from places this small, printed at whatever commercial press was nearest. Imprenta Mestres in Montblanc handled a significant cluster of Conca de Barberà municipal issues during this period, which is why the print quality across them is recognizably consistent.
Turró catalogues this as #2852, deep in the long tail of Catalan wartime municipal issues.
