Opmerkingen

Vidrà is a tiny mountain municipality in Osona, Catalonia — population measured in the hundreds even today. Like hundreds of other Catalan and Spanish Republican municipalities during the Civil War, it issued its own emergency fractional currency in 1937 after coins essentially vanished from circulation, hoarded or melted. These local emissions, collectively documented in Turró's exhaustive catalog, were purely practical stop-gaps with no banking infrastructure behind them.

The thick card stock was a deliberate choice at this scale — thinner paper deteriorated too quickly in daily use, and reprint capacity was nonexistent.
