Opmerkingen

During the Spanish Civil War, hundreds of Spanish municipalities issued their own emergency fractional currency when Republican-zone coins vanished from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply absent. Vélez-Blanco, a small town in the Almería province of Andalusia, was among them. These ayuntamiento-issued notes were purely local instruments, accepted only within the issuing municipality and often redeemable in theory but rarely in practice once the war ended.

The absence of a Gari Montaner catalog number suggests this piece either remains unattributed or was recorded after the main reference work was compiled — not unusual for provincial Almería issues, which are among the least documented of the Republican emergency emissions.
