Opmerkingen

During the Spanish Civil War, hundreds of Catalan municipalities issued their own emergency paper money after the collapse of normal coin circulation — hoarding and melting had stripped small denominations from everyday use almost entirely by mid-1936. Valls, a town in the Alt Camp comarca of Tarragona, was among them. These locally printed notes were authorized under Republican wartime decree but produced and managed at the municipal level, which accounts for the enormous variation in paper quality and print execution across the series.

Imprenta E. Castells was a local commercial press, not a security printer. Expect inconsistencies in ink coverage and registration.
