Valdealgorfa is a small municipality in the Bajo Aragón district of Teruel province. This note was issued by its local council during the Spanish Civil War, when the Republican government authorized — and ultimately could not control — a torrent of emergency municipal currency known as billetes de necesidad. With national coin disappearing from circulation as metal was hoarded or requisitioned, hundreds of towns issued their own fractional paper simply to keep local commerce functional.
The validation stamp is the only security feature, which was typical for issues of this scale — the council's authority rested entirely on local recognition, not on any technical barrier to forgery.
