Tragó de Noguera is a tiny municipality in the Noguera comarca of Lleida, Catalonia, and like hundreds of similarly small Spanish towns, it issued its own emergency paper money during the Civil War after the Republic's metallic coinage effectively vanished from circulation by mid-1936. These municipal notes — collectively catalogued under the Turró system — were produced locally, often by whatever printer was available, and circulated only within the issuing municipality's commercial boundaries. Many were printed in runs so small that survival rates are extraordinarily low.
The Turró reference 2596 places this squarely within the Catalan municipal wartime series. Documentation on individual small-municipality issues like this one is fragmentary at best.
