正面描述 Plain cream-coloured stock printed entirely in black letterpress. The issuing society's name appears in two lines across the upper portion, separated from the lower text by a double rule; to the left, the numeral "1" is set within a rectangular border. The denomination "Vale por UNA peseta" occupies the centre in bold display type, below which the place and date "TORREVIEJA, DICIEMBRE, 1937" are set, followed by the manuscript series box "Serie D" at the lower right, a handwritten serial number at lower left, and the title "El Presidente" in the signature area, the whole note validated by a circular violet ink stamp.

备注

Civil War-era Spain produced thousands of these local emergency issues — the Republican zone's collapse of central monetary authority in 1936–37 forced trade unions, municipalities, and cooperatives to print their own fractional currency to keep commerce moving. This note comes from the U.G.T.-affiliated waiters and hotel workers' union in Torrevieja, a salt-industry town on the Alicante coast. That a catering workers' syndicate was issuing scrip tells you something about how thoroughly normal banking had broken down.

The thick card stock was a practical choice when proper banknote paper was unavailable. The official stamp is the only security feature — entirely typical for improvised issues of this kind, and easily forged, though forgery was rarely the point when notes circulated only within a single town.
