Opmerkingen

Torelló is a small industrial town in the Osona comarca of Catalonia, and like hundreds of Catalan municipalities during the Civil War, it was forced to print its own fractional currency after the withdrawal and hoarding of metallic coinage left local commerce effectively paralyzed. The Generalitat's centralized emission could not keep pace with demand at the municipal level, so councils were granted — and in many cases simply assumed — the authority to issue their own notes.

The C.A.M. imprint is a reliable marker for wartime Catalan municipal issues: the cooperative printing facility handled contracts for dozens of these local emergencies, working under severe material constraints throughout 1937.
