Opmerkingen

Tarrós is a village in the Urgell comarca of Catalonia with a population that has rarely exceeded a few hundred — one of dozens of tiny Republican municipalities that issued emergency paper currency during the Civil War when metallic coin effectively vanished from everyday commerce. The Generalitat de Catalunya had authorized local authorities to print their own fractional notes, which is the only reason this exists at all.

Imprenta A. Figueres in nearby Tàrrega handled production for several small Urgell municipalities during this period, which gives the note a certain regional consistency in its physical feel even across different issuing bodies.
