Soses is a small municipality in the Segrià comarca of Lleida, and like hundreds of Catalan and Spanish towns, it issued its own emergency paper money during the Civil War after the collapse of normal coin circulation in 1936. These local issues — collectivly catalogued under the term "billetes locales" — were typically produced in very small quantities for purely local use, often on whatever card or paper stock was available to the town council at the time.
Turró 2401 is among the more obscure entries in the corpus. Soses had a population of only a few hundred during the 1930s, which puts an absolute ceiling on how many of these could ever have entered circulation.
