Opmerkingen

Solsona is a small cathedral city in the Lleida province of Catalonia, and like hundreds of Spanish municipalities during the Civil War, it issued its own fractional paper currency after the Republican government's Decree of 21 November 1936 authorized local emergency emissions to address the catastrophic shortage of coin. These municipal notes — collectively known as "moneda de necessitat" — were produced in staggering variety across Catalonia alone, with quality ranging from crude rubber-stamp affairs to properly printed sheets.

This note falls into the latter category. Imprenta Litografia Sabadell y Cia. was one of the Barcelona commercial printers regularly contracted for these local emissions, and their work is generally consistent in registration and ink quality.
